Electrical Apprentice Instructor Wanted
Treasure Valley Community College is looking for a part time Journeyman Electrical Instructor. You will be preparing students to sit for their license examination as a Journeyman Electrician. If you are passionate about your trade and a licensed Journeyman or higher willing to share your knowledge with students who want to learn, we would like to talk with you. Instructors are hired to teach on a year to year basis. They will use the Mike Holt Curriculum as the base of their teaching, but may enhance the curriculum with PowerPoints and visuals from their own experiences.
Electrical Apprenticeship

Courses in this Inside Electrician/Manufacturing Plant series will supplement on-the-job training with technical training required for trade comprehension, application and practice.
The General Journeyman Electrician (Inside) and Manufacturing Plant Electrician Apprenticeships are overseen by the Ontario JATC MA# 6008.
Year 1 introduces apprentices to the principles associated with electricity, electrical theory, and the basics of electrical systems. These basic fundamentals are necessary to understand the complex NEC requirements covered throughout the curriculum. Digital multimeter principles will also be addressed. In the latter part of this level students will be introduced to, and begin utilizing, the National Electrical Code.
Year 2 focuses on the first few chapters of the National Electrical Code. Some equipment specific to alternating current will be introduced. Residential and commercial wiring methods and practices will also be covered in depth in this level. Students will develop a further knowledge of construction safety, electrical safety, and the NEC. As they study rules in the Code, they'll develop a greater understanding of the purpose of the NEC's general wiring methods, materials, and different types of protection along with gaining a deeper understanding of residential and commercial wiring systems.
Year 3 covers additional OSHA construction safety rules and Chapter 4 of the NEC, then focuses on common industrial applications, methods, and requirements. While motors and controls are the major focus area, hazardous locations, special applications, and Solar (PV) Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Systems are also introduced.
Year 4 of the program covers advanced Code calculations in great detail. Electrical estimating
is discussed in
the first part of the level as well as a review of electrical theory and motor controls.
Oregon Electrical Apprentice Minimum Qualifications
Oregon Electrical Apprentice Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for registration as an Electrical Apprentice, an applicant must:
o Be employed by a member of a Training Committee (or become a member).
o Be 18 years of age.
o Applicant shall be a high school graduate or have a GED Certificate of Equivalency.
o Must have completed one full year of high school algebra with a passing grade
of 'C' or better or one post high school algebra course

To qualify for registration as an Electrical Apprentice, an applicant must:
o Be at least 16 years of age.
o Submit a completed notarized application
o Pay the $15 (non-refundable) license registration fee.

Agile Homes Trades - Apprenticeship Scholarship

Agile Homes of Fruitland Idaho has generously created a scholarship for students in 威尼斯人娱乐城s Electrical Apprentice and Plumbing Apprenticeship programs. We are hopeful that HVAC will be added in the future as 威尼斯人娱乐城s Apprenticeship Program grows.
Selected students will be awarded up to $500 toward class fees. An additions award of up to $500 is possible if the student apprentices under one of Agile Homes Trade Partners Shilo Plumbing or Powerhouse Electric.
To apply complete the Scholarship Application and submit it to the Center for Business, Workforce, & Community Learning.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be registered for Treasure Valley Community Colleges certified Electrical or Plumbing Apprentice Program
- Priority given to students with financial need
- Priority given to students with a relationship with the Boys and Girls Club of Ontario or Payette.
- Priority given to students who are apprenticing with Shilo Plumbing or Powerhouse Electric.

We have also incorporated learning modules into our Canvas LMS so you can do a portion of your coursework online.
YEAR 1: Introduces apprentices to the principles associated with plumbing, plumbing theory, and the basics of water distribution and DWV systems. Basic tool safety, and and power tools, construction math, intro to blueprints and isometric drawings are the fundamentals needed to understand the complex requirements covered throughout the curriculum. Due to new standards set by the State of Idaho, students will be required to complete a first aid course and CPR certification. In the latter part of this level, students will be introduced to and begin to understand the 2017 Idaho State Plumbing Code.
YEAR 2: Focuses on the first few chapters of the 2017 Idaho State Plumbing Code which includes the 2021 IDAPA Standards. Plumbing practices will be covered in depth in this level. Students will develop a further knowledge of plumbing math, reading, commercial plans, installing and testing DWV piping, installing roof, floor, and area drains, installing fixtures and valves, installing water heaters, and fuel gas and fuel oil systems. In the latter part of this level, students will be required to complete OSHA 10 Certification as required by the State of Idaho.
YEAR 3: In this level, students will continue to add to their foundation of knowledge about the plumbing trade and plumbing industry. Applied math, sizing and protecting water supply systems, potable water supply treatment, venting, sizing DWV and storm systems, sewage pumps and sump pumps, corrosive-resistant waste piping and service plumbing will be taught. In year 3 students will learn additional information about construction documents and ADA guidelines. If students have not completed first aid and CPR training and/or the OSHA 10 Certification, they will be required to do so as required by the State of Idaho.
YEAR 4:This final level of the program covers the different types of codes used by plumbers across the country. Students will also be covering the 2017 Idaho State Plumbing Code and the 2021 IDAPA Standards. This level will also include business principles, water pressure boosters, and recirculation systems, indirect and special waste, hydronic and solar heating, and private waste disposal systems. Students will develop further knowledge in preparations for the journeyman exam. They will also increase in understanding of leaderships skills essential to excel on the job.

To qualify for registration as a Plumbing Apprentice, an applicant must:
Be 18 years of age.
Applicant shall be a high school graduate or have a GED Certificate of Equivalency.

This 6-hour course provides the necessary classroom hours and written examination necessary in qualifying for basic certification to work roadside flagging projects. Upon successfully passing the examination, a card will be issued to you with the necessary certification to work roadside flagging projects. Oregon Construction Contractors Exam Curriculum
Take this independent study course to prepare for the state-mandated test (not included) to become a licensed contractor in Oregon. The course is based on the new NASCLA Contractors Guide and fulfills the state requirement for 16 hours of training.
- Prepare to take the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) Examination on your own.
- Course includes the NASCLA Contractors Guide 2nd Edition with chapter questions and practice exams on CD.

SKID STEER TRAINING

This 8 hour training will offer entry-level operators classroom and stick-time training for Skid Steer Loader. Participants will learn basic maintenance of a Skid Steer Loader by locating, identifying, and describing functions of the engine, powertrain, steering, braking and hydraulics. Participants will also learn how to complete walk around inspections, locate, identify and describe operator controls, switches, and gauges, including warning levels.
Participants will have the opportunity for hands-on training with our 威尼斯人娱乐城 Skid Seer Loader. Stick-time training will include equipment startups and shutdowns, brake tests and basic operating procedures in various practical applications.
Practical Evaluation:
Students will be required to perform a pre-operational inspection and successfully
demonstrate safe operation of the Skid Steer Loader to receive a Certificate of Completion.
Team Oregon Motorcycle Training
威尼斯人娱乐城's motorcycle courses are offered in cooperation with TEAM OREGON, a nationally recognized leader in motorcycle rider safety and skills training. You can learn to ride, earn your motorcycle endorsement or take your skills to the next level. The course instructor and coaching will help you to ride safer, smarter and more skillfully.

BASIC RIDER TRAINING
Basic Rider Training (BRT) is a 15-hour course for novice riders to build fundamental
street-riding skills and strategies. The course takes place over three days and provides
seven hours of classroom instruction and eight hours of range (on-cycle) instruction.
Training motorcycles and helmets are provided. For individuals with no riding experience,
BRT is the recommended course. This course meets Oregon's requirements for riders
of any age who want to earn a motorcycle endorsement.
INTERMEDIATE RIDER TRAINING
Intermediate Rider Training (IRT) is an eight-hour course for riders who already know
how to get underway, turn, shift and stop a motorcycle. This one-day course builds
fundamental street-riding skills and strategies. Training motorcycles 125-250 cc and
DOT helmets are provided, or students may use their own. For riders with limited riding
experience or those who haven't ridden in some time, IRT is the recommended course.
